GardenSage AI Privacy Policy

GardenSage AI (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an indoor gardening companion app developed and operated by Sanva, an independent developer (sanva.tk). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you sign in with Apple, we receive only the Apple-assigned User ID and, if you choose to share it, your email address. We do not require your real name or phone number.
1.2 Plant Photos
When you tap “Identify plant” or “Diagnose pest / disease”, your photo is uploaded over an encrypted connection (TLS 1.3) to our self-hosted AI gateway for processing. Photos are not retained after the identification or diagnosis request is fulfilled. We do not keep photo copies for AI model training, and we do not sell them to third parties.
1.3 Garden & Care Data
Plants you add to My Garden, care logs, pest/disease diagnosis records, and Source-Trace audit entries are stored in our database, linked to your account, and used to power the care calendar and history features.
1.4 Subscription Status
RevenueCat manages your Pro subscription entitlement (gardensage_pro_monthly / gardensage_pro_yearly). We store only a boolean “is Pro” flag. We never hold your payment instrument — all payment processing is handled directly by Apple.
1.5 Usage Metadata
We log essential call metadata (request timestamp, error code, subscription status, Source-Trace citation hit rate) to improve service quality. This does not include plant photo content, care tip text, or your original queries.
2. How We Use Information
Your information is used solely to:
- Provide plant identification, pest diagnosis, care calendar, and offline knowledge base features
- Maintain your garden collection and care history
- Manage your subscription entitlement
- Process account deletion and data cleanup requests
- Debug service errors (error logs are auto-purged after 24 hours)
We do not use your personal information for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it for any purpose unrelated to operating this app.
3. AI Calls and Data Routing
The app’s AI features (plant identification, pest diagnosis, care advice) are routed through a Sanva self-hosted AI gateway (newapi.zweiteng.tk). They do not connect directly to any third-party LLM provider. Your photos and queries are therefore not logged in OpenAI, Anthropic, or other providers’ systems as a result of your use of this app. Our self-hosted gateway follows the same data retention policy as described in this document.
All AI-generated care advice includes a citation to a public-domain source (e.g., UIUC Plant Pathology, RHS). Advice that cannot be traced to a verifiable source is rejected by the system and never shown to you.
4. Pesticide and Chemical Safety Disclaimer
GardenSage AI is a hobby gardening assistant, not a medical or veterinary device. Advice involving chemical substances (pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, etc.):
- Passes a 15-word client-side and server-side safety filter
- Is always accompanied by a dosage-aware safety disclaimer (English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese)
- Is intended as a starting point only, not a substitute for a licensed agronomist; always cross-check the product label and local regulations before applying any chemical
The app does not provide any medical or veterinary diagnosis for humans or animals.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Data is stored in a Supabase-hosted secure cloud database with row-level security — each user’s data is isolated
- All transmission uses TLS encryption
- Plant photos are cleared from our servers upon completion of the identification/diagnosis request and are not used for model training
6. Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from App → Profile → Account settings → Delete account. After you confirm:
- All garden plants, care logs, diagnosis records, and audit entries are cascade-deleted immediately
- Authentication records (Supabase auth) are permanently purged from our servers within 7 days
- Your active subscription is managed by Apple/RevenueCat — deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription; manage that in App Store Settings

We do not use any third-party advertising SDK or cross-site tracking tools.
8. Children’s Privacy
GardenSage AI is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us for immediate deletion.
9. Changes to This Policy
For material changes to this policy, we will send an in-app notification and update the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
